Specialised Courses for University Students

These courses are designed for students who want to improve their language skills within the field of their study: Journalism, Interpretation, Tourism and Hospitality.

Content of the Course

The course includes language classes; structural grammar and use of idioms; and specific vocabulary linked to the specialisation. The students also attend conferences and visit institutions related to their studies.

Accommodation

The students are placed with local families, full board.

Social Programme

Day trips can be organised to the Giant's Causeway or any museum on request. Social evenings are also organised at music sessions in a local pub.

Transport

Transport can be organised from Newry.

Content of the Course

English classes on advanced grammar, use of idioms, specific vocabulary and pronunciation exercises

Review of daily press: study of current newspaper articles, new vocabulary and expressions: work on oral expression

5 conferences and visits on the following subjects

  • 1. An outline of Irish History
  • 2. Visit to the council Chambers in Newry
  • 3. Visit to an Enterprise Centre

Tutored tape listening and video watching to familiarise the student with various accents and current affairs

Translation workshops: tutored translation of taped conferences.

A total of 60 hours tuition

Social Programme

Between July 22nd and 28th the Fiddlers Green Festival organises music sessions in the pubs and dancing in the village square as well as many concerts and events

Fee

£595.00 + €150.00 per student (maximum number of students 8 minimum 4)
